What is LFS?
Linux From Scratch (LFS) is exactly what it sounds like, Linux starting from scratch. Not a pre-released solution/installer, buhttps://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/stable/t from the kernel up.
Where do I get started
If you'd like to start where I'm starting. Click here. The LFS project has other variations of the book such as BLFS, ALFS, etc. However, this project will only focus on the base LFS.
What are my plans for this?
I plan to learn the linux system in its entirety so I can create custom distributions for my specific needs. These needs include:
- Contributing to Gentoo and Debian
- Porting more up to date linux kernels to devices like the Intel Galileo Gen 2 (Link soon)
- Learning security
- Learning software drivers
- Create an OS that does one thing and does it efficiently
What will be on here?
I won't be re-writing the entire LFS book here. Instead, I'll be detailing all the errors I run into while attempting to do this. The issues I run into will be documented separately from this post, however, this post will be updated with the future posts.
